Roberto Silva - Descendo o Morro Nr. 3 (1960)

Hello, Good Evening! I like Saturday nights at Loronix, it is the day of experiments and also a day of Samba. This is the deal, we will start with Samba and then I will try to figure out what should be an exciting experiment, showing music from an artist, a genre or from a certain Brazilian region never released before at Loronix. I think it will be real cool.

This is Roberto Silva - Descendo o Morro Nr. 3 (1960), for Copacabana. In spite of being a classic Samba album, this is one of those that you buy just by the cover that really worth the admission price. This is a 1991 Beverly reissue and I'm not sure if the original cover matches with this one. Roberto Silva is a renowned Samba interpreter in Brazil, active from the late 30's until today at the age of 87. Personnel is not credited, but delivers strong accompaniment to the classic voice of Roberto Silva with wonderful trombone solos that will make you wonder who is playing. Tracks include:

01 - Curare (Bororó)
02 - Domine a Sua Paixão (João Bastos Filho / Djalma Mafra)
03 - Juramento Falso (J. Cascata / Leonel Azevedo)
04 - Beija-me (Roberto Martins / Mário Rossi)
05 - Palpite Infeliz (Noel Rosa)
06 - Boogie-woogie na Favela (Denis Brean)
