Sexteto Prestige - Musica e Festa (1958)

Hello, Good Evening! It has been a tradition the release of Samba as the first post of every Saturday; unfortunately, with this big holiday weekend we are having in Brazil, I thought today was Friday. However, there is no reason for being disappointed with zecalouro, he brings something very great, the debut LP of a record label - Prestige - and also the debut LP of a new group to Loronixers - Sexteto Prestige. Let's see what it is.

This is Sexteto Prestige - Musica e Festa (1958), for Prestige. According with liner notes - available with the music - Sexteto Prestige was assembled by the own record company for releasing their first album and renowned musicians were selected. Unfortunately, Prestige did not credit the musicians and my searches did not result on a single musician name. Maybe I'm wrong, but I have two assumptions, Waldir Calmon at piano/organ and Moacyr Silva at sax tenor. There is also an accordion played very much like... Anyway, I will give you the chance to realize who is behind Sexteto Prestige, which is a nice surprise, pretty old pre-Bossa Nova group with great arrangements on 4 tracks with a medley of 4 songs on each. That's it, nice replacement for the Saturday Samba LP. Tracks include:

01 - Le Gondolier (De Angelis / Marcucci) Cuando Tu Me Quieras (R. S. Moreno / Mário Barrios) Sonhando Contigo (Anísio Silva / Fausto Guimarães) Mi Oracion (J. Kennedy / G. Boulanger)
02 - Eu Quero Um Samba (Haroldo Barbosa / J. de Almeida) Faceira (Ary Barroso) Sonho e Fantasia (João Leal Brito ''Britinho'') Sal e Pimenta (Newton Ramalho / Nazareno de Brito)
03 - A Saudade Mata a Gente (Antônio Almeida / J. de Barro) Cabecinha no Ombro (Paulo Borges) A Grande Verdade (Luis encourt / Marlene) Mocinho Bonito (Billy Blanco)
04 - Interesseira (Mário Latine / Bidú Reis) Apaixonada (Lourival Faissal) Por Causa de Você (Tom Jobim / Dolores Duran) Perfidia (A. Dominguez)
